Gold Plated and Rhodium Plated Jewellery
We offer both solid gold and gold plated options here at Iron & Bone. Our gold plated jewellery comes in both 14k and 18k over sterling silver/brass.
Rhodium is one of the most expensive precious metals in the world due to its rarity, even more expensive than gold. It’s silver-white, dazzling metal in the platinum family which can increase the shine, luster and durability of your jewellery.
Sweat and chemicals, no thanks. AVOID wearing when showering, applying lotion, doing dishes, swimming or working out. Always applying perfume and makeup BEFORE slipping on your jewellery. DO NOT sleep in your jewellery.
To maintain its beauty, buff gently with a soft and dry 100% cotton cloth or a microfiber cloth. DO NOT use a silver cloth or jewellery cleaner on gold plated jewellery.
Solid Gold and Gold Filled Jewellery
Solid Gold is one of the precious metals that will not easily oxidise or discolour. We offer both 10k and 14k options in this range. 10k and 14k gold is an active lifestyle’s best friend as it scratches less and does not bend or wear out as easily as 18k gold.
Gold filled jewellery is jewellery composed of a solid layer of gold mechanically bonded to a base of either sterling silver or some base metal. The standards for our 14k gold filled pieces are strictly regulated. Every piece contains at least 5% pure gold by weight. With reasonable care it will last for many years.
We choose to work with 14k gold-filling for some of our pieces because it allows us to offer top-of-the-line quality at an affordable price. The thick outer layer of gold makes it highly durable and safe for people with allergies or sensitive skin, and 14k gives our pieces its beautiful and subtle hue.
You can shower in solid gold and gold filled pieces, just remember to dry them properly afterwards. Rinse with water after wearing and allow to dry before storing. AVOID applying lotion, doing dishes, swimming or working out when wearing the jewellery. Always apply perfume and makeup BEFORE slipping on your jewellery. DO NOT sleep in your jewellery.
To clean, scrub lightly with a toothbrush, a bit of toothpaste and warm water, or clean gently with a silver cloth.
Sterling Silver Jewellery
925 sterling silver is an alloy made of 92.5% pure Silver and 7.5% Copper, giving you that sleek shimmer that you can expect from good silver.
Sterling silver is H2O sensitive, so avoid water when wearing your silver as it will oxidise over time. AVOID wearing when showering, applying lotion, doing dishes, or swimming. Always apply perfume and makeup BEFORE slipping on your jewellery.
The oils in your skin help to keep silver from oxidising faster, so wear often to nourish your pieces.
To clean, scrub lightly with a toothbrush, a bit toothpaste and warm water, or clean gently with a silver cloth.
We only work with quality materials at affordable prices so that we can offer you more choices in fashion. We care about your skin, so we've made all of our pieces lead and nickel free!
We've also made sure that all of are products are environmentally friendly, as all of our jewellery boxes are handmade with love and 100% recyclable.
Your jewellery deserves your love, and precious metals need different kinds of care. When not wearing your jewellery, make sure to gently wrap each piece in a SEPARATE piece of soft cloth, resealable bag, or a pouch to slow oxidising and prevent scratching against other items, particularly matching earrings.
